When you look at spa menus, do you often feel confused and wonder what the explanations and variations mean? At Paragon Med Spa, our licensed medical estheticians take all the worry away by analyzing your unique skin care needs and discussing the appropriate choice of facials.
Facials are essentially a multi-step skin treatment that is one of the best ways to take care of your skin. Facials cleanse, exfoliate and nourish skin, promoting a clear, well-hydrated complexion that can help your skin look younger.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. Our estheticians perform microdermabrasion treatment using the DiamondTome™ System, which gently exfoliates the skin while eliminating dead skin cells in a sterile and controlled manner. Your skin will look and feel smoother after the first treatment and will improve with additional treatments. Single treatments are available.
What To Expect When You Schedule A Facial At Paragon Med Spa
At Paragon Med Spa, you will receive advice on the best way to take care of yourskin. A facial works best when it is partnered with an on-going skin care program. The staff at Paragon Med Spa are experienced, knowledgeable practitioners who have advanced training in skin care and are thorough and passionate about their work.
Consultation. From the moment you walk through the door, the attention is on you and your unique skin care needs. You will be asked to complete a short intake form that highlights your current skin care regimen and products you are using. It is also important to note any allergies to medications, products or foods. Retin-A and other drugs or supplements and even your diet can affect your skin and what kind of treatments our estheticians recommend. More commonly, our estheticians will simply ask about your skin concerns, whether you are using Retin-A or have had recent cosmetic injections or heat based therapy (laser or intense pulsed light).
Preparations. Our esthetician will escort you to the treatment room and explain the sequence of your treatment. They will instruct you to put on a body wrap that goes underneath your arms and secures in front with Velcro, leaving the upper chest and neck exposed. They leave the room to ensure your comfort and privacy.
Cleansing. When the esthetician returns to the treatment room, usually they will start by wrapping your hair with a towel or headband to keep it free of product during the treatment. A thorough cleansing of your face will be performed using cotton pads, esthetician wipes or sponges.
Skin Analysis. After make-up is removed, the esthetician will look at your skin under a bright lamp. They will cover your eyes and looks at your skin through a brightly lit magnifying lamp to determine your basic skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive or normal) and skin condition (acne, blackheads, whiteheads, aging, sun-damage, dehydration, etc.) The esthetician then chooses the appropriate products and treatments and advises you of their recommendations.
Exfoliation. Mechanical exfoliation or application of a gentle, gritty- textured product will remove the dead skin cells sitting on the surface of the skin.
Extractions. At this point in the treatment, the esthetician will the remove any blackheads or whiteheads if present. This procedure can be somewhat uncomfortable, especially on thin or ruddy skin. The esthetician will assess your comfort level and tailor the procedure to minimize discomfort.
Facial Massage. This is the most relaxing part of your facial experience at Paragon Med Spa! Using the classic, soothing strokes of effleurage (a trained technique), the esthetician relaxes and stimulates your skin and facial muscles.
Facial Mask. An enzyme-rich cream mask appropriate to your skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive, mature) and condition will be applied, and you will relax for 5-10 minutes to allow this cream to penetrate your skin.
SPF Protection. After the esthetician removes the mask, they will apply a sunscreen to protect the skin from photosensitivity and explain post-procedure care.
Advice On Home Skin Care. The esthetician will tell you how they think you can take better care of your skin and might recommend products. You are under no obligation to purchase these products.
